The license
Commit Canvas is released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute it, privately or commercially. The license text is the authoritative legal document; this page is a friendly summary and not a substitute for it.
Your data and your stories
Stories you generate belong to you — they are derived from your repositories and written to your machine. You're free to share, publish, or modify them. If you publish a story, you're responsible for what its metadata reveals (see Privacy).
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Analyze a 100k-commit monster repo on a Raspberry Pi at your own risk. The analysis is deterministic but git itself is the source of truth — if the story and the log disagree, trust the log and file an issue.
Acceptable use
Don't point the web version at repositories you aren't permitted to view, and don't use the service to harass anyone — including via the "roast" feature, which exists for affectionate self-deprecation, not ammunition.
Changes
These terms may change as the product does; material changes will be reflected in the changelog. The MIT license itself does not change.
